Comments: Four and a half areas of Petite Sirah, Clone 03, were planted in April 2001 on 5BB rootstock. The vineyard slopes to the south, with soils rich in limestone and shale, balanced with loam and clay. This soil structure provides good drainage and proper nutrients. Five Oaks Vineyard is located in the Templeton Gap of the Paso Robles Appellation, a Region III climate. A 10 x 6 VSP trellis allows light afternoon winds to provide sufficient airflow through the canopy for proper ripening. Onshore winds from the Pacific cool night temperatures to the 50 degree range.
